What is an accredited data recipient?

An accredited data recipient is an organisation that has met the requirements to securely receive data in order to be considered an accredited data recipient by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Accredited data recipients can request, on behalf of a customer with the customer’s consent, to collect and use data held by a data holder to provide a specific product or service. Under Open Banking, both authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) and non-ADIs can apply to the ACCC to become an accredited data recipient.

A list of organisations that have met the requirements to become accredited data recipients is available here.
