Working at Cuscal

Make your mark on payments

There’s never been a more exciting time to join Cuscal than right now. The payments industry is in the midst of a digital revolution and we are one of the companies leading the charge.

Unless you already work in payments you probably won’t have heard of us before. That’s because we work behind the scenes, helping our clients offer their customers all of the payments products and services you will be familiar with like ATMs, cards, point of sale transactions, bank-to-bank transfers and mobile payments.

We play an important and growing role in Australia’s financial services industry as a strong and independent payments provider helping our existing clients grow and assisting new companies to enter the Australian market. This increases competition and gives greater choice to businesses and end consumers.

We help companies offer their customers the latest payment innovations. Our clients were among the first to offer Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay to their customers. We also worked alongside the major banks and the RBA to design and build the New Payments Platform (NPP), the revolutionary new real-time payments infrastructure which launched in 2018.

Unlike bigger companies where you can get lost in the machine, Cuscal has a flat structure, diverse work and clients, and a collaborative and flexible work environment. In the rapidly evolving payments industry, we look to our values of partnership, energy and reliability to guide the way we work, both with our clients and each other.

If you want to help an innovative, tech-focused company navigate through an exciting time of transition, then we want to hear from you.

Android Pay is trademarks of Google Inc.
Apple Pay is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.

Working at Cuscal

In the fast-evolving world of payments, continuing to do things the same way means you rapidly get left behind. We are in the midst of a multi-year change program which is aimed at building on our heritage, infrastructure and relationships to position us, and our clients, at the forefront of the future payments industry.

We live our values
Our values of partnership, energy and reliability are important to us because they embody the qualities that are crucial to the ongoing success of us and our clients. When these values are truly lived, they create the right environment for everyone to perform at their best. From a recruitment perspective, we are looking for people who exemplify these values. We want to work with people who are knowledgeable, curious, energetic and collaborative.

We empower people to grow
We believe learning is a life-long activity, so we encourage employees at all levels of Cuscal to continue to develop their professional growth. We do this by including personal development plans in our annual review process, offering general, leadership and technical training programs (like the Cuscal Payments Academy) and sharing knowledge via a mix of formal and informal sharing sessions.

We celebrate success
Our peer recognition and reward program encourages employees to nominate and recognise each other’s achievements on a day-to-day basis culminating in company-wide awards twice a year.

We build healthy minds and bodies
We have created a health conscious working environment and have adapted this to work with our flexible approach, where employees are no longer required to work from the office full time.  We offer a number of virtual employee Wellbeing initiatives – supporting Mind, Body and Finances, as well as on-site programs. We also offer access to ‘Cuscal Advantage’ which covers a wide range of discounted services for our employees to use in everyday life.

We advocate diversity
We believe our diversity makes us stronger. Our employees all bring different skills from their rich and varied cultural backgrounds, work histories and life experiences. We work hard to maintain our diversity through supporting different work styles and practices and encourage flexible working arrangements across the organisation.

We’re proud that our work has been recognised with a Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) Citation for 2018-2019.

Corporate social responsibility

We believe that by working together we can create smarter solutions. This belief lies at the heart of our flourishing Corporate Social Responsibility program, where we collaboratively work to make a meaningful contribution to our community and the broader financial services industry. Our formal corporate social responsibility policy aligns with our growing and evolving organisation. Right now, we are focused on helping and supporting our employees to give back to our wider community through the following initiatives:

  • Workplace giving. Employees can make regular donations to one of our preferred community partners or a charity of their choice through their pre-tax salary using the Good2Give platform. These contributions are then matched by the company.
  • Corporate volunteering.  We encourage our employees to give their time and skills to help our preferred community partners, or an approved charity of their choice.
